Anticipation of Angles & Nothing Missed
Experienced photographers know how to navigate the crowd for the perfect shot. Photographers have the eye for every detail and movement in the room and uses them to create great photos. We usually stand behind our cameras throughout the duration of your event. In this way, we are able to anticipate angles and as well as movement patterns that paves way for incredible shots, all without upsetting the flow of your event.
Furthermore, an experienced photographer is trained to work for long hours without breaks. I often clock in thousands of steps from running around the area in order to get the best variety of shots. Identifying opportunities and scenarios that change in an instant takes experience and prior knowledge.
High Quality Photos
As much as phone cameras have come a long way and are capable of taking better photo these days, they won’t come anywhere near close to the quality of photos from a DSLR that a photographer will give you. Setting your phone’s camera to “portrait mode” and adding filters doesn’t compare to professional results.
When used correctly, high-level gear provides high quality, professional photographs – but they cost an arm, leg, and a quarter of your bank account. Since professional photographers have to outfit clients with high-quality images, we spend time researching, testing, and investing in only the best equipment for the job.
Understanding the Right Gear and Settings for the Environment
An experienced photographer knows how to shoot in many different environments (rainy, dark lighting, direct sunlight, tungsten light, etc) without compromising on quality or lighting of the images. We understand what equipment to use and when to use them, so that your photos pop.
While amateurs will probably take all the pictures at your event on one setting on the camera (even when the conditions changes), a experienced photographer will know how to tune the camera to suit the present conditions, and in doing so, produce stunning photographs each time. Also, unlike phone cameras, professional gear is not one-size-fits-all.
Not all lenses are made equally nor produce photographs equally – some give a wide angle view, some give incredible depth of field, some don’t mix well with low-light, and some make your head look like it was in a fishbowl. Sometimes flash is needed, but how much? You don’t want to blind your model. Should you light dramatically, evenly, or in rembrandt-style?
Having a photographer who knows how to make the necessary adjustments without a second thought is definitely a time and grief saver!
Dynamic & Creative Photos
At the same time photographers are keeping the camera settings in check, they’re also making sure the photos come out perfectly. We’re finding the angles for flattering lighting, making sure the individuals featured don’t come out distorted, and capturing shots that tell stories – who was there, how you decorated, what food was served – so you can refer back to for more efficient planning when designing your next event.
We also know when to take a wide shot, portrait, or close up on details, and at which angles the suit the pictures best to show off the subjects without adding distractions.
Knows How to Work the Crowd
Moreover, photographers know how to talk to and direct an individual to feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. We invest a lot of time into creating an experience that will warm up people – cracking jokes, telling a funny story, asking about favorite foods or their future goals, and etc – to help them feel at ease.
Photographers who have experience in portrait, couples, engagement, editorial, and events understand that it’s not professional models that make a great photo – it’s the individual who feels radiant and makes a photo come to life. People want attend and desire to be part of the fun! Nothing shows that better than engaging photographs of happy event-goers.
You’re Busy!
Imagine, it’s 6 p.m. and the guest speaker is almost finished speaking – but the main course hasn’t arrived and you’re hurriedly ordering a second round of appetizers. The last thing you want to be doing is fumbling around with a camera that you’ve barely used at this point.
You will be busy at your event and chances are you’ll forget or you won’t have time to take photos. The next thing you know, the event is over and you’re left with no evidence. What a relief it would be to be able to tend to other things during your next event!
Good Photos Can Only Be Made Great
Back home from the shoot, not only do we have captured the greatest moments of your events saved, but we also take the time afterwards to go through all the photos and select the best ones. Our job doesn’t stop there – we wrap up the last leg (and a hefty one too!) of the job by improving the photos through editing on professional software.
A good photographer is has trained their eyes to notice details that most might’ve missed (lighting, noise, angle, color toning and so on). In fact, check out this article to why editing is a crucial portion of the entire process.
No Lost Photos
Imagine what a shock it would be to discover that your photos are gone! It’s not uncommon for equipment to wind up with a fault, even when they are well maintained. But when you hire a professional photographer for your special event, you won’t have to worry about losing your pictures.
In addition to the originals on the sd card, a backup on an external hard drive, professional photographers often additionally backup your photos to a cloud storage – so it’s permanently guaranteed that you’ll never lose your photos. Many photographers use cameras with dual sd card slots, ensuring that you’ll have a duplicate copy of your photos the instant they are taken.
What if you got your photos but accidentally deleted them? Fear not, many photographers save photos up to a certain period of time, usually written on the contract. Personally, I keep photos up to 2 years after the date of the shoot and can resend you them. So, anytime during that period, I can guarantee that you’ll be able have the photos from your event.
For the ‘Gram
Social media has become a huge avenue of marketing investment for businesses in the modern day. A big reason for why people scroll on social media is to see what their friends are up to. What happens when you come across a post from your friend who just went to a really cool concert or reviewed a product that changed their day? It makes you go “Huh, that looks great".
Likewise, using high-quality, professional photos in your marketing helps encourage potential customers that haven’t met you face-to-face yet to build a positive relationship with you. Remember that people can remember 65% of visual content after 3 days?
Event photos aren’t just for Instagram and social media either – you can utilize these photos in many different ways: on the “about section” on your website, a blog post about your business featuring the pictures, reminding people how awesome your event was in invitations for next year’s event, and many more possibilities! Any photographs that you have paid for during the event are free for you to use in whatever way you like.
Impress Your Guests
In addition to all the practical reasons to hire a photographer, having a professional takes your event to the next level. Individuals respond to a professional photographer behind their DSLR differently than to a friend with their iPhone. Just like hiring a caterer, bartender, band or DJ, it shows your guests that you are willing to go the extra mile because you care about quality and has high standards.
There are no ifs ands or buts. When you hire a professional photographer for your special event, you can sit back and relax knowing that your photos will come out great. Still, at the end of the day, you’ll need to make the choice between entrusting an amateur or a pro to capture the best moments at your event. Who will it be?
